Drought not only threatens agriculture but also causes a series of ecological, social, and economic damages. Therefore, it is necessary to have valid and appropriate indicators that can evaluate and measure drought efficiently. Drought monitoring by meteorological and hydrological indicators has always been of interest to researchers. Decreasing or increasing precipitation has a direct effect on river flow rate and groundwater level.Materials and Methods Drought monitoring was performed for 10 meteorological stations and 10 hydrometric stations in the western basin area of Urmia with different distribution functions to identify the best distribution function for fitting data based on standardized precipitation index (SPI) as meteorological drought index and standardized streamflow index (SSI) as hydrological drought index. SPI and SSI values were measured with four cumulative functions, i.e., Gamma, Weibull, logarithmic normal, and Gaussian normal functions. Some performance criteria such as MAE were used to evaluate the efficiency of the functions. This research has been conducted on an annual scale for 31 years from 1989 to 2019. Drought continuity zoning was done through the Inverse distance weighting (IDW) method based on drought continuity.Results and Discussion The results of the SSI showed that the cumulative gamma function had the best performance for fitting data for nine stations. Only at the Merakand station, the Weibull cumulative distribution function provide a better fit for the data. Babarood station with 99% correlation and MSE of 0.017 had the best fit among other stations. In order to understand the drought conditions of the region, according to the selected indicators and based on positive values for wet conditions and negative values for drought conditions, the stations have been studied. Finally, a zoning map of drought continuity is presented.Conclusion The SSI and SPI indicators are directly related to each other. The SPI is better for predicting the onset of drought and the SSI is better for measuring the severity and persistence of drought. During the last three decades (1998-2000), Urmia basin has witnessed the highest severity of hydrological drought. Based on the zoning map of the northwest region, especially the upper Chihriq station, it has always enjoyed more favorable conditions and has experienced a milder drought than other regions. However, the extent of severe drought changed from the western part in 1998 to the eastern part in 2000. the severity of drought in 1998 was less than in 2000. In 2000, the drought intensity reached the highest value just in the Merakand station.}, keywords = {Gamma distribution,Drought monitoring,Standardized rainfall index,Standardized flow rate index,Urmia Lake}, title_fa = {مطالعۀ تطبیقی شاخص‌های خشکسالی هواشناسی (SPI) و هیدرولوژیک (SSI) بر اساس بهترین تابع توزیع تجمعی برای حوضۀ آبریز ارومیه}, abstract_fa = {خشکسالی نه تنها کشاورزی را مورد تهدید قرار می‌دهد، بلکه باعث ایجاد زنجیره‌ای از آسیب‌های بوم‌شناختی، اجتماعی و اقتصادی است. از این‌رو، وجود شاخص‌های معتبر و مناسب که بتواند خشکسالی را به‌طور کار‌‌آمد ارزیابی و سنجش کند، ضروری است. پایش خشکسالی توسط شاخص‌های هواشناسی و هیدرولوژی همواره مورد توجه محققان و دانشمندان بوده است. کاهش یا افزایش بارش تأثیر مستقیم بر دبی جریان رودخانه و تراز آب زیرزمینی دارد. کاهش بارش منجر به خشکسالی هیدرولوژیک می‌شود. بر همین اساس، در این پژوهش به پایش خشکسالی برای 10 ایستگاه هواشناسی و 10 ایستگاه هیدرومتری در غرب حوضۀ آبریز ارومیه با توابع توزیع مختلف برای شناسایی بهترین تابع توزیع برای برازش داده‌ها پرداخته شد. برای دستیابی به هدف مورد نظر، برای بازة زمانی 31 ساله از تاریخ 1398-1368 در مقیاس سالانه در نرم‌افزار متلب مقادیر دو شاخص بارش استانداردشده (SPI) و جریان دبی استاندارد (SSI) تعیین شدند و سپس مقایسه‌ای برای تعیین بهترین برازش تابع توزیع انجام شد. نتایج بررسی SSI نشان داد که تابع تجمعی گاما بهترین عملکرد را برای برازش داده‌ها برای نه ایستگاه داشته است. فقط در ایستگاه مراکند تابع توزیع تجمعی ویبول برازش بهتری را برای داده‌ها ارائه کرد. ایستگاه بابارود با همبستگی 99 درصد و میانگین مربعات خطا MSE برابر 0/017 بهترین برازش را در میان ایستگاه‌های دیگر داشته است. در این پژوهش عملکرد تطبیقی دو شاخص SPI و SSI  نشان داد که این دو شاخص با یک‌دیگر رابطه مستقیم دارند. هم‌چنین مشخص شد که شاخص SPI برای پیش‌بینی شروع خشکسالی و شاخص SSI برای سنجش شدت و تداوم خشکسالی بهتر هستند. بر اساس دو شاخص SPI وSSI  منطقۀ مورد مطالعه پس از سال 1368 در یک روند خشکسالی شدید با طول دورة طولانی را تا سال 13۸۰ تجربه کرده است. این موضوع در حالی است که در سال‌های بین 1380 تا 1395 شرایط با نوسان بین دورۀ ترسالی و خشکسالی حالت طبیعی‌تری را گذرانده است. از سال 1395 دوره‌های ترسالی با شدت کم‌تر و طول دورة کوتاه‌تر و برعکس دوره‌های خشکسالی با شدت و طول دورة بیش‌تری را تجربه کرده است.}, keywords_fa = {پایش خشکسالی,تابع تجمعی گاما,دریاچه ارومیه,شاخص بارش استانداردشده (SPI),شاخص جریان دبی استاندارد (SSI)}, url = {https://mmws.uma.ac.ir/article_1691.html}, eprint = {https://mmws.uma.ac.ir/article_1691_fcb734af489eb4d7937bbade9ff672c3.pdf} }
